Michael Naylor

Amateur Radio - 59 73 QRZ?

I became licensed in 1979 as G8WAA whilst living in the small English market town of Otley in Yorkshire. But after only a couple of years, family, work and other interests took over. That was until the summer of 2019 and 19 years after emigrating to Spain. With help from the RSGB and FEDI, I was able to get back on the air as EA7KIR. Living and operating on the Costa Del Sol is wonderful, and so is getting out portable, especially when its not too hot.

Icom Trio

My supermarket trio - the IC-7300, IC-705 for /P, and an IC-9700 because I had to.

Base antennas include an inverted V for 40m, a BigSignal SkyLine for 20/17/15/12/10m, Diamond A502HB for 6, a BigSignal 10BS-270 for 2m/70cm, and an Antennas-Amplifiers PA1296-18-1.5RA for 23cm.

Portable antennas include an Aerial-51 Model 404-UL for 40/20/17/15/12/10/6m, a HyEndFed 3 Band Mk3 for 40/20/10m, and a simply a single length of wire hanging from the top of a pole (there aren't so many trees around here).

I don't do contesting, so I'm more likely to be found during the week. However, I've recently become obsessed with the possibility of getting into DATV, so maybe sometime in the future I might be seen on Es’hail-2 QO-100 geostationary transponder. I imagine it will be a bit like Skype, but far more expensive.
