When someone scribbles absent-mindedly, the result is called a doodle. During a periods of utter boredom, Michael suddenly realised that his tiny ballpoint creations could be worth further consideration. They were digitally scanned and enlarged to a reasonable print size. The thing is, Michael liked the irregularities of each ink stroke. It kind of looked intentional - almost as if an experienced artist had drawn them with charcoal. He found it was also possible to combine some with real photographs. To finish them off, all he needed to do was carefully select the enclosed areas and fill them with colour.
